The forest was primarily a tropical moist evergreen forest, with an ecotone of understory and emergent Arenga and Liristona (Palmae), Cycas chevalieri (Cycadaceae), Melostomaceae and some Lithocarpus (Fagaceae). The Malaise trap that captured most specimens was suspended about 5 meters above the ground on the narrow saddle of a ridge that faced northwest.
