Lygistorrhina magna (after Matile, 1990)
Male. - Head: occiput and ocellar callus deep black. Antennae entirely black-brown, as long as head and thorax together, all flagellomeres much longer than wide. Proboscis dark brown, a little more than three times longer than fore coxa.
Thorax entirely dark brown, as are the legs. Hind tibia regularly thickened from the mid length. Spurs brown-black, the external spurs of mid and hind tibiae approximately one third shorter than the internal, and barely longer than the apical width of tibia. Hind basitarsus slightly thickened.
Wings uniformly light brown. Costal exceeding R5 on three quarters of the distance R5-M1, reaching the apex of the wing. Median fork largely rediced at the base, M1 longer than M2. Halters: pedicel light brown, capitulum dark brown.
Abdomen uniformly dark brown, including hypopygium, very similar to L. edwardsi, but with a brush of undifferentiated setae on inner margin.
Variations. - One of the paratypes is generally lighter in hue, and the proboscis is only twice the length of the fore coxa; tooth of gonostylus is obtuse at the apex instead of sharp; it is perhaps a separate species.
Length of wing: 4.8 mm.
